*An important note about completing the Common Application for Hiram College:
The Common Application requires that you complete your essay before you are able to submit your completed application for admission. If you would like to send the essay at a later date or send a writing sample of a paper you have already written for a class instead of an essay, please use your online copy and paste function to place the following statement into the Common Application essay section:
“I am electing to send the essay separately later or please use the following essay / paper for class that follows this message as my college essay. Thank you.”
You may then either mail your hard copy essay or class paper separately or copy and paste your paper into the Common Application essay section.
Email to your admission counselor or admission@hiram.edu if you have any questions.
While Hiram College uses the Common Application for admission, the only place your information is shared is with Hiram College if we are the only school you list.
If you would like a paper application mailed to you free of charge, please email your request with you name and mailing address to admission@hiram.edu or call 800.362.5280 and we will mail you one.
All offers of admission are conditional upon receipt of a final secondary school transcript and any other conditions specified at the time of admission. Students who have been admitted to the College are asked to make a $200 deposit. This deposit is due no later than May 1 and is non-refundable. Students applying for financial aid may defer paying the deposit until financial aid is determined.
Admission Guidelines for First-Year Students
Hiram's academic coursework is engaging and challenging. To be adequately prepared to succeed at Hiram, the College recommends that all applicants complete the following courses while in secondary school:
- 4 years of English
- 3 years of math
- 3 years of science
- 3 years of history and/or social science
- 2 years of the same foreign language
- 2 years of electives from the above subjects.
The entering freshman class of fall 2007 had a middle 50% range of 20 to 25, SAT of 1110, a cumulative high school GPA of 3.34, and 27% were in the top ten percent of their graduating class.
All applications are reviewed on a need-blind basis, which means admission decisions are based solely on a student's academic and extra-curricular merits, not on his or her family's financial circumstances.
Note: Hiram College recommends that all First-Year Students interested in financial assistance file their FAFSA by February 15th of their senior year.
